My Perspective on Learning Theory:
Behaviorist/Cognitivist/Constructivist/Connectivism
I see value in incorporating aspects of multiple learning theories. I want my classes to incorporate quick behaviorist learning checks that can keep learners on their toes and stay motivated by knowing right away that they got it right. I’m interested in seeing what gamification could do, another aspect of behaviorism. I want cognitivist plans for retaining and memorizing in small chunks and self-reflection. I want constructivist groups building meaning out of their own projects and connecting to the real world. I want connectivist networks and interpretations of their own and each other’s work. Finally, I want to keep learning and keep seeking new and innovative ways to teach.
