Purpose Statement:  I'm a certified, skilled  signed language (ASL) interpreter and cued language (English) transliterator, instructor, consultant, course designer, and distance education professional with over 20 years of experience. I hold a Masters Degree  in Distance Education & E-learning from the University of Maryland Global Campus.  I'm knowledgable and experienced in teaching and learning in Distance Education, technology in Distance Education & E-Learning, learner support in Distance Education and training,  multimedia design, instructional design and course development in Distance Education, and management and leadership in Distance Education and E-Learning. I'm passionate about the need for better, more accessible continuing education for adults.

Biography:   I started teaching adults in the year 2000 and I have since taught hundreds of people all over the country, in person and online.  I  work as a certified ASL-English interpreter and a certified cued language transliterator in the Washington, DC area. I started studying language with a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from the College of William and Mary and I've taught as adjunct faculty in the Hearing, Speech & Language Sciences Department at Gallaudet University for 18 years: 14 in-person and 4 online.  I am the President and Director of Curriculum at Language Matters Academy, a non-profit organization dedicated to training and supporting interpreters and transliterators through distance education.
